Our worship ministry team
The worship ministry team is made up of people from various walks of life who have varying levels of musical skill. The team includes those who are up front on Sunday mornings and those who serve behind the scenes, running sound, recording, and media. Their common thread is that they have a heart to worship the Lord and to see others worshipping as well. Those who serve on the team are challenged to be vigilant in their walk with the Lord and faithful as they follow Christ. A person's character and faithful living before Christ is more important than musical ability.

Philosophy of Ministry
Those serving on the worship ministry team need to be characterized by godliness. It is important that they draw others to walk with Christ by their own example and that they are willing to sacrifice personal freedoms and desires when necessary to lead people in worship. It is essential that those who lead worship do so with a servant ministry attitude. Those who serve in this capacity need to be driven by a deep longing to see that people worship the Lord

Truth is important. Songs that we sing need to be theologically sound. Likewise, those on the worship ministry team should be striving to know God and his Word and to apply it in obedience to God.

And of course, ability is important. Like any ministry at Hillsdale, being on the worship ministry team is not about being on the worship ministry team. It is about serving the Lord and his people. There needs to be a certain level of skill so that others who have come to worship the Lord are not distracted.

The bottom line is that our worship ministry team members need to be worshippers 24/7, on the platform, and in the congregation.

Jam Sessions
You may be surprised to know that we have over 70 people involved with our worship ministry team. Even with that many people, we are continually looking for people with some level of skill and a big heart for God who would like to serve in this way. A few times each year we have what we call "Jam Sessions". This is an opportunity for those who are interested in worship ministry to learn more about our worship ministry team, to talk about philosophy of ministry and how the worship ministry team functions, and to play a few songs together.
