Knowing for sure that you are a Christian

All people have a destiny with God. What is yours? Do you want to know for sure that you have a personal and eternal relationship with the Lord? You can become a Christian if you:

1. CONFESS your sin and admit your need for a Saviour.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

2. BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he died on the cross in your place to pay for your sins, and that he is willing to save you from spiritual death.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)

3. ACCEPT the free gift of salvation that God has offered to you in Jesus Christ by personally receiving him into your life and submitting to his lordship.
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

If you want to become a child of God, you can pray a prayer something like this:
"Lord Jesus, I believe you died for my sins and came back to life so that I can have new life. Please forgive me for my sin. I want to serve you and follow you. I give myself to you. Help me to love you with all my heart and soul and mind. Thank you for making me your child today. Amen"

If you have any questions about a relationship with God, or would like some additional information, please feel free to call the church office or send an email to a staff member
.

After your decision to become a Christian

The decision to turn your life over to Jesus Christ is the most important decision you can make in life. The Bible tells us that when you make this decision, you become a child of God - a Christian. However, this is just the start of your new life in Christ.  Now that you are a child of God, you need to:

1. Grow in your relationship WITH THE LORD.
Set aside time every day to get to know the Lord better. You do this by reading your Bible (this is how God talks to you) and by praying (this is how you talk to God). Commit to attend a Bible-believing church where you can worship the Lord.

2. Establish relationships WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS.
God made you to "fellowship" with other Christians - to live life together. They help you (and you can help them) be increasingly more and more faithful to the Lord. The Bible tells us that we simply cannot succeed in living for Jesus without the support, encouragement and help of others. This is another reason why we regularly go to church, and participate in other fellowship events like Care Groups.

3. Share your faith in Jesus Christ WITH OTHERS.
Turning your life over to the Lord is a big deal, and there are probably many people in your life (family, friends, co-workers, classmates) who do not have an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ and who are unaware of the significance this relationship holds for you. They may wonder why you are acting differently, and want to know what has happened to you. Invite them to read the Bible for themselves. Bring them to church. Pray for them. Tell them about your spiritual journey, of discovering how God loves you, and of how you decided to live for Jesus. Let them know that God loves them, too, and invite them to accept God's gift of salvation just the way you have!
